A poem: A deaf girl

A Deaf Girl

Stands in the crowd
She was caught up
 in the sweet melodies

But thoughts running wild
No sound
A man, a violin, a dog
Clapping, laughing, enjoying.
melody that seem to be falling
Dreaming of a voice,
Suddenly,
 foot was stumbled
 She smiled
and signed
shaking her heads to
deliver message

Appearing a face
He smiles brightly
Her world blossoms.
She never know
A carefully designed lie.
When she turned back

The face changes

Response to “A Blind Woman” by Ted Kooser

Response to “A Blind Woman” by Ted Kooser

After I read this poem, I think this poem describes a blind woman’s mental activities finely. In women’s eyes, there is no difference between light and rain, because she cannot see anything. For this reason, author uses “light” to take place of “rain” several times. Although this woman tries very hard to reach the normal world, she still cannot actually.

“The moment was like
a circus wagon rolling before her
through puddles of light, a cage on wheels,
and she walked fast behind it,
exuberant, curious, pushing her cane”

These are last paragraphs. Imagine a world that is completely black. You can't see a thing, unless something happens to move. What you only can do is to pursue the step of world. However, the world actually does not give you the opportunity to catch up. The thing only leaves in woman are “exuberant, curious” feeling.

My Poem

Ticktack
Ticktack, ticktack
A baby born

Ticktack, ticktack
A boy grow

Ticktack, ticktack
A man works

Ticktack, ticktack

Every step go forward is another step go backward

Endless but never repeat

Response on the short film "Ten Minutes"

Ten minutes, maybe means nothing, maybe means a lot.
It is a very short but sad film. The frame narrative tells about an Asian tourist in Rome. He walks into a shop and wants to develop his photo in ten minutes. Ten minutes is a very short time for him. He smokes cigarette in the street at ease. Who knows ten minutes means a lot in another place? Simultaneously, in the main narrative, it happens in Sarajevo, a mother tells her son to get some water and bread. This is in 1994, when the wars in Sarajevo are at its full peak. It’s a very poor place where happens war. They cannot get basic supply of food and clothing. When the young boy returns home after ten minutes, what he sees is the death of his mother and father. In the meantime, the Asian tourist gets the developed photo and leaves the beautiful memory forever.

In ten minutes, the tourist gets his photos washed, still amazed at technology's advancement, while the boy loses everything he had. Because of war, everything destroys. We need to be strongly against war. Only peace will give people hope.
